Nexium, the brand name for esomeprazole, is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that helps to lower the level of acid in the stomach. It starts the pancreas releasing a hormone called dihydroepiperidinone (DHT) that causes the stomach to produce more acid. Nexium reduces the amount of DHT in the stomach and helps to lower the severity of symptoms caused by DHT.
Nexium is taken orally and it’s important to take it with food. Take the medication at around the same time every day and do not miss any doses. Take the medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. You should take the medication with food to help it reduce stomach acid. Nexium is usually taken with or without food. Esomeprazole is taken once or twice a day, depending on how you respond to the treatment.
Nexium is only available with a doctor’s prescription. It’s important to make sure you’re taking the medication as directed, even if your symptoms go away. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed. Your symptoms may not improve very fast if you take Nexium too much, and you may experience symptoms that you didn’t notice before. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns about taking Nexium.
Nexium works by decreasing the amount of DHT in the body, which helps to lower the amount of acid the stomach produces. DHT is a type of lipase, which means that excess DHT in the stomach narrows down the stomach lining and makes it harder for the stomach to make blood. Nexium decreases the amount of DHT in the stomach, which helps to lower the amount of acid the stomach makes. You may notice a decrease in symptoms such asgas, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, Loss of appetite, and constipation. Nexium reduces the amount of DHT in the stomach and this helps to lower the severity of symptoms caused by DHT.
Nexium can also help to lower the risk of gastroduodenal ulcers. You may need to use Nexium in combination with a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), such as omeprazole. PPIs can decrease the effectiveness of Nexium and may also affect the safety of omeprazole.
